If the first signs of a prostate cancer symptom show up, it may be too late already. Well before a symptom appears, preventative measures should already be in place.

If a man waits for a prostate cancer symptom to appear, it has been show that it may already be too late to react. Men should start preventative measures way before a symptom appears. Especially with thousands of new cases being reported every year in Australia, it’s often the case that the key to surviving is prevention and early detection.

Even though a prostate cancer symptom can be the cause of an immediate need of medical attention, keeping up with prostate health and routine examinations are important for men in their 40s and over. If prostate worries or cancer run in one’s family, men should begin routine check-ups at age 40. If there are no high-risk factors or a family history of trouble, then exams should begin around age 50.

It’s an unfortunate statistic, but cancer can be quite developed before the first warning signs of prostate cancer may appear. No symptoms of prostate cancer tend to appear in early stages. For example, it doesn’t affect urine flow through the urethra because of this cancer’s tendency to form on the outer part of the prostate in the beginning.

If a prostate cancer symptom has already shown, the ability to detect cancer early has often passed. Some of the more common symptoms that appear include difficulty urinating, burning or painful urination, or blood in the urine. These are also signs of different prostate malfunction. Even though it’s important to seek medical attention, it is imperative not to panic before having an examination.

Prevention is a great way to avoid the development of a prostate cancer symptom. Diet, exercise, and nutritional supplements, such as lycopene, in routine diet plans, can help reduce prostate cancer development.

Keeping a healthy prostate should be a major concern for men age 40 and over. With prostate cancer ranked in the Top 4 cancers in New South Wales alone, the time to do something is before a prostate cancer symptom shows.
